Prime 30A bay & shallow water fishing for steady action
What makes this a great family fishing charter in 30A?
A 30A Family Fishing Trip should feel easy. That means calm water when possible, simple gear, steady bites, and a captain who knows how to coach without overwhelming anyone. Captain Ryan runs family trips around the inshore bay system in and around Santa Rosa Beach, choosing the best protected areas for the day’s wind and tide, so you spend more time fishing and less time bouncing around.
For kids, the “win” is quick action and learning something new. For adults, the win is catching fish that actually fight — and having a smooth, comfortable boat where everyone can relax between bites. The goal is an experience that works for the whole family: photos you’ll keep, a cooler story to tell, and (often) fish to take home.

Beginner Friendly
Never held a rod before? No problem. We keep it simple: how to hold the rod, when to reel, and what to do when a fish is on. The trip is paced so kids stay engaged and adults can still learn a few local tricks.

Comfort & Safety First
The boat is a clean, comfortable platform designed for inshore water, and the day is run with safety as the priority. Captain Ryan’s 24ft Hanson (“Kayleigh H”) is built for a smooth, dry ride and can run in very shallow water.

Plenty to Catch
Depending on season and where we’re fishing, we commonly target species like Redfish, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Flounder, Tarpon and more, ensuring we put you on and keep you on the fish!
Family Trip Options
Most families choose one of two trip styles — depending on how much time you want on the water and the ages in your group.
-
Our 2 Hour Kids Fishing Trip: A shorter, fun-focused trip that’s perfect for younger children, first-timers, or anyone who wants a quick, exciting session with plenty of action and guidance.
-
Our 2 – 4 Hour Inshore Fishing Trip: A longer trip with more flexibility — more spots to fish, more time to settle into a bite, and a better chance at that “best fish of the vacation” moment.
Both options are private charters, so it’s just your family on the boat, and Captain Ryan tailors the day to your group.

What to bring on your Family Fishing Trip
Keep it simple. The best family trips are the ones where everyone is comfortable. We recommend:
- Sun protection: hats, sunscreen, polarized sunglasses
- Drinks & snacks: especially for kids (and anyone prone to “hangry”)
- Light layers: mornings can be cooler on the water
- Camera/phone: for the first fish photo
If you have a child who is nervous, tell us ahead of time — we’ll keep it relaxed and celebrate every small win. The goal is confidence and fun, not pressure.
